Last week my daughter had a cake sale at school and I wanted to make cakes that looked like ice creams. I had no idea if it would work but I put the cake mix into some cornets and baked them as usual....and guess what it worked! Topped off with butter cream and a flake, they sold straight away. The only thing I would say if you wanted to make these yourself, bake them on the day you make them as the cornet went a bit soft the following day. Still fun and yummy though! If you'd like to see more of my home made cakes you can see them on my page.......

Sanderson Hot Air Balloon Window Display
Most of my creativity these days seems to be channelled into my job. Not a bad thing at all seeing as I get paid to make stuff! The latest creation is for our Spring window display, which is using the Sanderson Hot Air Balloon fabric. I had the idea that we could make our own air balloons using wallpaper, then utilising cardboard tube and string from the desk drawer, this is the result.....

Scion - Fish Window Display
This window display made for my work this month is to show fabric from the Scion Wabi Sabi collection. Those fabulous fish we made are from wallpaper, where we cut out individual fish and used them as scales to create the 3D fishies leaping in the air! I was really pleased with how this one turned out!

Anthropologie Window Displays
I have been involved in designing and making window displays at work recently, which I really love! They normally have to be achieved with little or no budget and we don't have alot of time to create them either, so they have to be simple to make. We're lucky that we have amazing fabric and wallpaper suppliers to help the process. Anyway, I was happily wasting time on Pinterest recently when I came across some Anthropologie window displays. Wow, they are fabulous!! Because of my Fine Art degree, retail experience and crafting passion they really appealed to me. Look out work - I have been inspired!

Valentine Paper Heart Bunting Window Display
At work on Saturday, it was time to change the window display as our sale has just finished. So I spent many a happy hour creating these easy hearts made from wallpaper! Ooh I love my job!
I wanted a very handmade, shabby chic style looking window. So we hung them with thick string at different heights which I think worked really well.
I'm really pleased with this display and everytime I look at it, it makes me smile! As the paper heart bunting is so easy to make (you just need three different lengths of paper and a stapler), it's a craft that you could do with the children to decorate your home. You could even just make one for a special person this week. Lots of Love x

I want a beach hut!
I spent new year's day on my local beach, West Wittering. It was a glorious sunny day so we donned our water proofs, picked up our buckets and spades, called a few friends and set out for a BBQ picnic to blow the christmas cobwebs away. The children had a great time, but so did the adults. I have to admit it was a fantastic way to start a new year. I am normally nursing a hangover so hardly notice what is happening elsewhere! Anyway, since then I have been dreaming of owning a beach hut! I like the idea of it being a bit of a hide away from the world. One of the things I'd like to so is take a good book and brew some tea and just sit and enjoy the seaview and my own space. I realise I am in no financial place to own one quite yet so instead I have purchased a beach hut money box where I will start putting the pennies away for the day when....

Christmas Window Display
This is the christmas window display I helped create for my work this month. The tree took literally hours to make by cutting out thousands of circles then pinning them on. We used 4 metres of gorgeous silk by Pongees on the cone shaped christmas tree and the curtains are in fabric by Zoffany.

Linwood Fabric & Wallpaper 'Art House' Collection
Linwood Fabrics have created an ecclectic fabric and wallpaper collection called 'Art House'. It appears to represent the things that are characteristically English, which means it is a tad quirky!
There are designs of pretty china tea cups, fashionable vintage styled Drink Me potion/perfume bottles courtesy Alice in Wonderland, handwritten addressed envelopes which could be love letters sent straight from the WW2 front line and illustrated fountain pens that might be from a collection at the V&A museum. Several fabric houses have produced similar types of collections recently; a small selection of alternatives to flowers and ferns!

150,000 visits to my blog!
Wow! I have just checked my stats and found that this little old blog of mine has received over 150,000 visits! Thank you so much to all those that have come and said hello and hopefully got a bit of inspiration from it over the last few years. I never thought that when I first started this blog that it would ever have been seen by so many.
